This series visualizes human emotions that are not readily captured by words. It challenges the linguistic perception of one’s self and is an attempt to label the phenomena of the human mind.

Through the creation process, it tries to reduce the amount of “conscious intensity” the human attempt to make something perfect in order to extract unconsciousness, which can handle far more information and enables access to the essence of human experiences.

Seeing humanity as a small part of the universe that partially experiences universal phenomena, the creation process tries to incorporate the essence of nature/universe in an attempt to convert inorganic materials into organic being.

Sound Of Colors-colors dance and make the sound of music. When you are hearing the sound of colors, you don’t need to think of the composition because they tell you where they would like to be. The music exists because we dance. Art exists because we create. Colors exist not in objects but in your mind. This is the end of art theory and the beginning of human being. Art exists for us. It’s not that we exist for art and it’s theories. Everything starts with the perception and so we need to feel first.

Lost In A Deep Forest And Found A Way Out

What is emotion? What does it mean in the context of the universe? Emotion is something we assume that we know in depth but we merely understand what it is. From a scientific perspective, it would be merely a result of brain chemical reactions optimized to increase the chance of survival. From an artistic perspective, it would be a major driver for creation. From a philosophical perspective, it could color our life which essentially has no meaning. As I grew up with Asperger combined with synesthesia, understanding emotion has been one of the biggest challenges that I have in my life. In the field of psychology, emotion is divided into different categories such as happiness, anger, and sadness. However, there is a huge question, is it really that simple that it can be categorized like you cut a cake? When you see color waves, you immediately understand that it is a gradient that there is no clear border between different colors. When you see the sky, its colors are not divided like blocks but it is a gradient. Emotion is colors and waves and that is how I see it in myself and how I see the outerworld.

Love Is Sweeter Than Strawberries

A unique story behind this artwork is that I used toilet paper to create this unique and interesting texture. The reason I used it is not only to create the texture but also to pose a question to a global society: “What is value?” There is a famous quote that nowadays people know the price of everything but the value of nothing. This series is all about “value.”

By painting toilet paper, which people normally throw into a toilet to wipe something they don’t want to touch, and making it into something beautiful, I’m trying to shift the way people see things. Do we really know the value of something?

Love Is Sweeter Than Strawberries
Searching Epiphany

This artwork represents many facets of love that consist of different emotions. Our emotions are not as simple as the definitions of words. It is something much more complex than what we can verbally express and explain.

Likewise, strawberries could be sweet or sour, or even both at the same time. No matter how sweet it looks, you never know until you put it on your tongue.

I Don’t Know How To Name This Feeling

We always try to explain our feelings and emotions using words, but is it truly possible to explain them with words? Experiences are much more profound than words and concepts that words can capture.

Sometimes we don’t know why we have a certain emotion or feeling at a specific moment because it’s linked to all the experiences that we have had in our lives, as well as the experience in the present moment.

This artwork visualizes my emotional ups and downs when confronting an ideal reality and actual reality.

The first layer uses bright colors and delicate dots to depict an ideal world, like a flower garden. The second layer in magenta represents a harsh reality that is far from what is ideal.

Pain is a simple word but there are so many different kinds of pain. This artwork represents a memory with pain that is suppressed and locked away in a small box in the mind, so much so that you do not recall it on a daily basis.

However, the memory itself stays in the mind for such a long time that it creates pain without you realizing it.

Sometimes you need to confront the pain and accept it rather than simply ignoring it. It is a moment that you are recognizing pain and you know where it comes from but you still don’t know what to do with it.

It is a moment to accept and figure out a solution. Sometimes it seems to be impossible to find a way to deal with pain but your belief to overcome it allows you to find a way to overcome it.

What is love? Your shape of love has been influenced so much by how your parents have loved you. We don’t know what it exactly is. We sometimes suffer because of love. Searching for love contains both sweet and bitter experiences and memories.

It is not easy to think of it. Maybe you have a certain expectation from someone, but you do not get it. It is a long way.

What made you love someone in such a way? Are you still able to love someone?

You may feel that your mind is frozen like ice or emotionless like a rock after finding out that you would not have love in the way you were always wishing. But, it could be just one kind of shape of love.
